I cant believe it is the May long weekend already, where has the last few months gone? I am moving in 35 days. YIKES!!! I have packed some thing s but still have so much to do. I recently began going through my closet. The one good thing about moving is that you can purge all the things you no longer need and have a fresh start.
It took me an entire weekend to pull everything out and make some decisions on what stays and what goes. I loved doing this, you get to really see what you have and what you don’t want anymore! I’m always shocked how many pieces I have forgotten about, or that still have tags on them. As I sit here and write this all my winter stuff is packed away (even though it feels like its still freezing outside), a lot is packed away for the new house and I am left with a minimal wardrobe for the next 35 days until the move.
So today on the blog I am sharing 5 things that you DON’T need in your closet. And trust me, at first it may be hard to let go and you will think of an excuse not to, but in the end you will feel great when you walk into a fresh organized closet.
Let’s get started!
THINGS THAT DON’T FIT
When I was cleaning out my closet, I finally gave away many pairs of jeans that haven’t fit me in years. Our bodies change. It’s natural. And we should embrace and love the way it is instead of holding onto things that we know will never fit the same again.
THINGS THAT ARE OUT OF STYLE
I know a lot of eras and styles are coming back, but that doesn’t mean we have to hold onto items hoping that it will come back to wear again. You don’t need to keep everything, pick a couple of pieces that you absolutely love and feel great in and maybe they will come back in style
THING YOU HAVENT WORN OR THAT YOU MIGHT WEAR SOMEDAY
If you’re like me and clean out your closet and find things you have completely forgot about or that still have tags on from a couple of years ago, chances are that you will still not wear it. The rule I stick with most of the time is if I have not worn it in a year then I probably will not wear it again.
THINGS THAT ARE DAMAGED
When I say damaged, I mean things that have holes, that have stains, things that have zippers that no longer work, etc. If you can’t fix it, or won’t go and fix it, then those pieces are just taking up space.
THINGS THAT ARE PAINFUL
You all know what I mean here, those items that you break a sweat in order to get it on and the jeans that dig in when you sit down. Negative pieces like that shouldn’t be in your life or your closet…toss it.
Well, that’s it! Just remember, the more things you get rid of, the more space you are making for new things!
