I get asked pretty frequently about tips on starting a blog and how to grow your blog/Instagram, so today I’ve decided to share my top 4 tips to get started and hopefully help inspire you to succeed
Of course, there isn’t a magic formula for becoming the best blogger out there, and if there was, everyone would be super successful at it! What I do know, is what I’ve learned from experience and what I’ve taught myself after countless trial and errors over the last 2 years and I’m happy to share it with you today for those that would like to get started!
Start a blog because you love it. I started my blog 2 years ago as a hobby to keep me busy since both my kids were in school. I never in a million years would have thought it would take me to where I am today, but I am oh SO grateful! Create your blog with genuine passion and it will shine through to your audience. Don’t set your expectations high, and be thankful for every step of the journey.
Stay true to who you are, and don’t compare yourself. One of my favorite pieces of advice to new bloggers is to “stay in your own lane”. It’s easy to start comparing yourself to how other bloggers look, how many followers they have and the designer bags they own, but that’s actually going to be hurting you and your brand…trust me! Be yourself, be unique, and others will immediately be drawn to you for who YOU genuinely are!
Stay consistent and be dedicated. Whatever your consistency looks like, just stick to it. I started out posting every Tues and Thursday, and have increased it to Mon, Wed, Fri. No matter what happens, you have to be dedicated to grow your brand. Success is not going to happen overnight, so posting consistently and staying inspired will help you reach your goals! Consistency will also ensure your readers know when to expect your posts.
Engage with your followers and readers. This is easily my favorite part of blogging (and the most important part in my opinion)- being able to connect with all of you here on Cupcakes and Life and on Instagram! I love receiving messages, questions, and comments. At the end of the day, without you guys, I wouldn’t have a blog, so YOU are the most important part. I’m so thankful for each and every one of you! Be sure to engage with your readers, follow them back, engage with their content, and be responsive to what they like/don’t like on your blog. Being attentive to your audience is key!
I hope this blog post proved to be motivation and inspiration for some of you! I don’t at all want this post to be discouraging, but instead encouraging. I wanted it to be a real and accurate depiction of what it takes to be a blogger.
