Ideally, we would all like to have the luxury of a getting a deep-tissue massage after every workout in order to help our muscles recover and prevent injuries. If your budget doesn't allow for a personal masseuse, there is a great alternative. First step is to purchase a foam roller, and you can pretty much do the job yourself -- without the spa music.
You can find from roller pretty much at any sports store these days. Here is one of my favourite ones I use.
Foam rolling is so great for you at any time, I do it before and after my workout and sometimes even on my off days. As you roll a muscle back and forth on the dense foam cylinder, it breaks down adhesions and scar tissue. It also warms and stretches muscles, increases circulation, and prevents soreness.
Here is a simple foam roller routine I use on a daily basis.
