Online shopping is a bit like a drug. Add in a glass of wine l and it’s pretty a great way to spend a evening. But unfortunately we all know that some of our purchases don’t actually work out; the item doesn’t look as pictured, it’s too big or too small, or it just doesn’t suit you. Okay I admit it I shop online A LOT, as someone who has tons of experience I have a few tips + tricks that I thought I would share. So grab a glass of your favourite wine, your laptop, get comfy on the couch and take the plunge on that dress you’ve been eyeing.
Look at other photos Most sites do a really good job of making their items look appealing so it’s a good idea to get some variety with the photos. Just Google the item to see it on different sites. This will show you the item on different models and also in different light and give you more perspective.
Check out the fabric content This is something that can really make or break a item for me. Because you can’t touch the garment, it’s really hard to know what the fabric might look like. You know what materials you like and what looks best on you so check the material and it will give you a better idea of how it will look on you.
Find reviews Even if it’s not on the site you’re actually purchasing from, look to see what other customers are saying about the product in question. It can be super helpful with sizing up and down.
Check their return policy This may seem like a no-brainer but it’s pretty important, especially in Canada. Will the company refund your duty if your order doesn’t work out? Does it come with a pre-paid return label? Will you get a full refund? Do your research!
Google to see it in real life If I’m unsure about a piece, you can always Google it with “fashion blog/blogger” attached to it and this will give you am idea what it looks like on a real person.
What are some of your tips for online shopping? It may actually be my favourite way to shop…
