Who’s prepping for a tropical vacation this Spring. Are you not sure what to pack? I am getting ready for a great sunny tropical vacay and today I am sharing some tips and tricks on packing light. If you ask anyone who has traveled with me, they will tell you I am the best packer, I always pack everything I need into my two carry-ons. So as I get ready for my trip and pack up I want to share some of my tips with you.
WRITE IT DOWN
I am a list person, I make a list for just about anything. So of course my first tip to packing like a pro is to make a list:
– How many days/nights will you be there?
– What activities will you be doing during your stay?
– What the weather will be like while you are there
Writing these answers out will help you pack exactly what you need without over packing. I personally prefer to purchase some items like the sunscreen and bug spray once I have reached my destination to save space and I also find this helps me in purchasing just the right amount so I don’t need to bring any left overs home.
LAY IT OUT
Usually once I begin to pack, I take out everything because naturally I think I need it all. Creating outfits and laying them out helps determine which ones I will actually wear. I usually pack for 2 outfits per day because, let’s be real, even though we think an outfit will be perfect for a specific day, doesn’t mean we are still feeling it when that day actually arrives.
PICK THE RIGHT ITEMS
When picking out my outfits I like to include items I can double up on outfits, for example a great pair of black dress pants that I can wear with a few different shirts to get a few outfits out of it.
BAG IT. ROLL IT. PACK IT,
This is the secret ingredient to fitting everything you need in your luggage is to roll your clothes. You will be amazed how much you can fit into your luggage by rolling all your clothing. Not only is it a space saver but it keeps your clothing from wrinkling. I started doing this a couple of years ago and it is the only way I pack now and I have gotten pretty good at it.
After my suitcase is all packed and ready to go, next up is to pack my travel bag with everyday essentials. To keep it organized, I bag everything in categories. Makeup in makeup bag, liquids in my TSA-friendly travel bag, jewels in another, and chargers in yet another. What’s great about all these bags too is that you can reuse one and put your beach items that you don’t want to get sand all over before heading to the beach!
Now that I am all packed its time to head off on vacation. Below I have included some of the items on my packing list for this tropical getaway.
