It is the last day of February and it literally feels like winter has been so long. This is my first winter in the Okanagan and even though I love the fact that it rarely rains here we have gotten so much snow here this year I am ready for a vacation.
I spent the entire weekend planning out my vacation destinations for the year and today I am sharing them with you. I am so excited for all the new adventures to come.
I am heading to Scottsdale and Sedona in March for a family vacation. I have visited Scottsdale so many times and I can still find things that I have not done or visited. There are always favourites that I will do over and over again but new adventures await this time around.
If you have been following me for a while you all know that New York has been on my bucket list for so many years. A opportunity came up that brings me there this May and all I can say is it will be a packed factions full of the must see places on my list. So get ready for some New York overload on my blog and Instagram feed this May.
BANFF AND LAKE LOUISE
Since moving to the Okanagan last year it is a place I have wanted to go to. It is only a few hours away by car so it will be one of our summer road trips this year. I wanted to wait till the summer as hiking is something I love and I have always wanted to see the beautiful Lake Louise in the summer months. I am beyond excited to stay at the iconic Fairmont Lake Louise.
TORONTO AND MONTREAL
Summertime is the best time to visit these beautiful cities, I have decided this year to visit some Canadian destinations since Canada is such a gorgeous place to live why not explore? I use to live just outside of Toronto many, many years ago and am looking forward to exploring the city with my daughter. Montreal is so close and has been on my to do list so why not hop over and check it out as well.
I have to admit I have moved away from visiting here for many years. It is a destination I use to go to every year with my family. This time it will be a adults only trip. Spending time with my hubby in a private villa with a private pool on the beach, yes please. I am waiting for fall to head to the beach when I can escape the cold here and get some warm sunshine.
I am hoping to add few more adventures along the way but for now this is a great itinerary for the year ahead.
Planning a trip can be so much fun but can be stressful for some and can actually make you not take that trip you have been looking forward to. I love planning my getaways, in fact I have been doing it for friends and family for many years now. I have a few travel planning tips to share with you:
1.Choose your location. We have been to over 100 countries and we still have a hard time choosing our destination. There is so much to see in this world. So we go by what we want to do.
Do we want our trip to be an adventure?
Do we want warmth and sunshine?
Are we looking for culture?
Or do we want to relax?
2.Decide on a budget. This is so important and one of the most important parts of planning a trip.
3.Rewards and Credit Card Points. If you know you are going to be traveling a year from now, sign up for a credit card that offers rewards. Put your every day purchases on that card to rack up the points, but make sure to pay it off monthly. Normally credit card programs have a signing bonus where they’ll offer you enough points for a free domestic flight or several nights in a hotel. You can really cut a lot off the initial budget it you start collecting now. Points can add up quickly.
4.When do you want to go? This one for me sometimes is number one especially when you are travelling with others. Everyone has so many things going on, work, school, other commitments you need to sit down look at a calendar and plan it out, especially if you are planning more then one vacation at a time like I was this time.
5.Documnetation: Before you decide on a destination and time make sure you do your research on what type of visas you'll need and any other documentation required to get into that country
6. PINTEREST: I always use this do look up awesome destinations, things to do there that would interest me, hotels that I might like, and reviews from others. Those really help me in figuring out my trips.
What are some of the trips you guys have planned for 2018?
